Who we are

ICON Photonics began its journey in the laboratories of ESIEE Paris, before being incorporated in 2018 to serve its first customers.

More than seven years later, we are building a team of passionate, dedicated experts, taking on the toughest technical challenges across multiple markets. We are driving major innovations in areas such as Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), a key technology enabling the rise of AI, or Quantum applications.

We have always maintained a family-like team spirit, empowering our people to grow both personally and professionally. This culture of innovation and collaboration has led to several patented solutions that are setting new industry standards.

COO & Associate Partner
Charles is in charge of the business development and the global marketing strategy of ICON Photonics. 8 years of experience in international business development of technological solutions.

Carlos Viana, PhD

CEO & Co-founder
Carlos is responsible of the ICON Photonics general strategy and development. 13 years of experience in photonics technologies and business development.

Jean-Luc Polleux, PhD

CEO & Co-founder
Jean-Luc leads the Engineering and scientific development of ICON Photonics. 25 years of experience in Photonics and microwaves, former Prof. at ESIEE Paris.

Andreas UMBACH, PhD

Andreas Umbach has more than 35 years experience in Photonics industry. CEO at Auccept, former CEO at u2t Photonics and General Manager at Finisar Germany GmbH.

Dominique DUFOUR, MBA

Dominique Dufour is a proven senior management executive with over 30 years’ experience in worldwide companies (J&J, Bayer Pharma, Nutricia Danone, DELL, Carestream Dental and Danaher Group).
